I got to know Leonard when he came in to donate blood at the Mississippi Valley Blood Center in Coralville (previous Iowa City). His last milestone was 12 gallons (96 pints) and he was up to his 99th pint! Always friendly & very dedicated to helping others with his blood.

It was always such a joy to be around Uncle Leonard. He was always in a good mood with a smile on his face, he brought such great energy to those around him. He was always there to lend a helping hand and I looked forward to our visits. My husband, children and I will miss him so much. Until we meet again..

Leonard and I met at euchre at the American Legion. I enjoyed very much playing against Leonard. He was competitive but in a fun way. He would pick on me and enjoyed to euchre me which he did frequently. I will miss seeing his happy smile. Sympathy and prayers to the family. Gail Maher

So thankful for the meals shared (always a treasured guest), cards played, golf outings, cattle hauls and stories told with many laughs along the way.
You were one of my best friends - kind man with a gentle soul. I was privileged to call you Uncle Leonard.

So many fond memories of Leonard.....but I think the thing that stands out to me is how he always brought his cheer to others around him. This sunny disposition along with a very clever wit usually ended up with an abundance of laughs for all of those that surrounded Leonard. Leonard always showed a care for others around him more than himself. Leonard also had a serious side, which I experienced most with his very sincere interest in what I had going on in life, never superficial.
I always considered Leonard a role model in how he carried himself with dignity.
Miss you-
