Mary was a favorite of both myself and the principal of Iowa City High, the late Howard Vernon. She became a real regular at our graduations when the grandkids were involved and she paid attention. She could quote my speeches word for word. Later, she became our favorite cashier at Wal-Mart because of her radiating kindness.
We are all richer because we knew Mary.

I am very sorry for your loss! Mary and I worked together at Wal-Mart in Coralville for 13 years together. She was always kind, caring and such a wonderful lady! I will miss you so much! God had brought you home to be with his other children. Rest in peace Mary! I love you and you will be missed dearly but never forgotten!

I loved working with Mary and getting to know her.
She was always concerned that I was coming to work in the dark and would ask me almost weekly if I had mace to protect myself.
She always talked about how she met her husband and how wonderful her children were.
She actually told me two weeks ago to tell her children that she thought they were wonderful.
Mary will be missed.
My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
Sincerely,
Marge Polman

Mary & I started Walmart within 3 days from each other... Who would have known that was going to become a very close 20 year friendship/ co- worker!!! She always was giving so much of herself to all she came in contact with! She also had a special place in her heart for Children’s Miracle Network, she helped us ( I was the head of it for our store) without even a thought. My granddaughter ( she called beautiful Lexi) special needs always had to see Mary & get her BIG HUGS! She was definitely one of Gods angel & now is in his Kingdom
Love you Mary until we meet in that beautiful Kingdom!
