I met Jon when he started working at Casa Azul. His vibrant personality was contagious. He shared his journey with me and soon became like an adopted son. I would ask him how he did on his finals (always A's) and what the next chapter was upon graduation. He was proud of his position translating at the U of I hospital, and I was proud of him as well. I will miss him dearly. KK

Jonathan was a student in two of my writing courses at Kirkwood. Often, the most memorable students are the most difficult ones to work with -- Jonathan was the rare case of a student who has stuck in my memory because of how good-natured, kind, and funny he was-- not just easy to work with, but a joy to work with. I got to know him both through his writing and our conversations, which often covered a number of his interests, both notably boxing, an interest we both shared. I feel very lucky to have known him, and I am heartbroken to have learned of his passing. I will miss him.
