West Liberty, Iowa Robert L. McCoy, 72, died Monday, June 27, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. A celebration of life will be held at 3:30PM on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at First Church United in West Liberty, with a visitation from 2:00-3:30PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Liberty Middle School Sign Fund or the Iowa City Animal Rescue Shelter. Bob was born November 11, 1938 in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Chal and Elizabeth Loeffler McCoy. He graduated from Keokuk High School and went on to get his bachelor’s degree from Parsons College in Fairfield and master’s degree from the University of Iowa. He was united in marriage to Louise Stutz on October 10, 1964 in Kahoka, Missouri. Bob was an educator in the West Liberty School District for 35 years. He also taught in Milwaukee for 2 years prior to coming to West Liberty. He was member of First Church United, and the West Liberty Country Club and was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes. He is survived by his wife Louise of West Liberty, son Michael McCoy, Julie and Sydney of Austin, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and aunts Gladys and Bernice McCoy.
