I recently learned of Bob's passing by phone call to Louise. Even though it has been 33 or 34 years since I last saw Bob and 2 yrs since his passing, the news affected me greatly.
My belated, heartfelt condolences to Louise and Mike and grandkids.
Bob is the kind of friend one just has to love.
Rest in Peace, McCoy. Rest in Peace.

Mr. McCoy was an educator who truly appreciated kids. He made his classes fun while at the same time teaching us so much! We learned that frog eyes bounce while disecting and many life skills. Your family is in my prayers.

Bob was my friend and mentor in teaching Science. He helped me with aquariums, classroom animals, and answers to many questions. We took a class together from Mcc where we visited a lot of places in Muscatine County such as gravel pits, Wild Cat Den, vegetable farms on the island, and sides of hills to take soil samples. He made fun of me always sleeping on the bus under my straw hat. We laughed a lot due to his great sense of humor, learned a lot to use in class, and continued a great friendship even after retirement.

Got to know him as a good childhood friend's father and also as my 7th grade science teacher who had the best collection of animals at school a kid could ask for. I know he's enjoying a great round of golf right now and ofcourse hitting every fairway and green in regulation and holing everything in sight. My prayers go out to his son Mike and wife Louise as they to go on with their lives while mourning the loss of a father and husband, God be with you both.

We knew Bob as a friend and neighbor when we were all young married folks. We four had hilarious times with Red and Pat Brooke which are probably not printable. So many memories. We miss you, Bob!

I remember how funny Mr McCoy was in class. I mentioned on Mike's facebook I remember him telling us a story about how he hated bugs and spiders. And there was one outside and he was freaked out about it and his wife came over and stepped on it to kill it - BAREFOOT! He was beside himself!
I also spent a lot of time on 3rd floor in the high school hanging out with Mr Severson and the two of them gave me non-stop grief! I knew what was coming - but I always went back for more!
I had even dropped the F-bomb in a class once and got a detention for it. Detention was in Mr. McCoy's room that day - and he and Seve tried to trick me into saying why I got detention. They kept trying to pry it out of me - but I wouldn't fall for it!
He was a great teacher and impacted thousands of lives - that's quite a legacy!

Bob was a master teacher and had great influence on many young lives. We always laughed about the "office" we shared at the Jr. high in 1965--a converted broomcloset! Our thoughts are with you and your family--Bill and Jan K
