Nathan R. Coppock, 94, of Iowa City, Iowa, passed away on Sept. 21, 2009, at Windmill Manor in Coralville, Iowa, after a lengthy illness.
Nathan was born on March 30, 1915, in West Branch, Iowa. He married the love of his life, Zella Carr, on May 10, 1941.
Nathan was a member of the West Branch community until his move to Iowa City. While living in West Branch he was known as the local Maytag Man and had wonderful memories of his years driving a school bus. He remained an avid supporter of the West Branch Bears and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Those left to cherish Nathan’s memory include his two daughters, Karen L. Gillispie of Iowa City and Mary Ann Christensen of Iowa City; grandchildren Lisa (Roy) Grell, Theresa (Tim) Swanson, Robert (Stephanie) Gillispie, Nathan (Melissa) Gillispie, Jeff (Kristy) Christensen, Ron (Kate) Christensen, Jr., and Dan (Jen) Christensen; seven great-granddaughters, and four great-grandsons; Sister, Bertha. He was preceded in death by his wife Zella and son in law: John F. Gillispie.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Iowa City Hospice.
Memorial services will be on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 10 a.m. at Scattergood Friends Meeting, at Scattergood School ruralWest Branch, Iowa. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch is in charge of arrangements.
