Richard Glenn Aicher, 89, passed away Sunday September 12, 2021 at the Iowa City Rehab and Health Center.

It was Richard’s wishes to have his body donated to the Deeded Body Program at the University of Iowa, no formal services will be held. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty is caring for Richard’s family.

Richard was born January 23, 1932 in Iowa City the son of Harry A. Aicher Sr. and Zola P. (Colgan) Aicher. He was a graduate of City High School in Iowa City. He was married to Cora Fagen, following her death he was united in marriage to Rita Zier.

Richard was a long time farmer and was a seed corn and fertilizer salesman for Na-Churs Fertilizer. He had been employed with Quality Care as a landscaper and later the University of Iowa where he finished his career as a grounds keeper.

He enjoyed doing things outdoors, hunting and fishing.  He loved the Iowa Hawkeyes, Vince Lombardi and the Green Bay Packers, John Wayne and western movies and a good cigar.

He is survived by his wife Rita of Ainsworth, two daughters: Michelle (Jim) Kemp of North Liberty, Corrine Aicher of Ainsworth and a son Tim Aicher of Ainsworth. Five step children whom he was a loving father: Donna (Pat) Siegrest of Ainsworth, Henry (Penny) Sines of California, Udo (Paula) Sines of Vandalia, Illinois, Bob Sines of Washington and Jack  Sines of Iowa City. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, two siblings: Thomas Aicher of Albuqueque, New Mexico and Phyllis Hopp of Iowa City. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Cora, two daughters: Linda and Jeannie, son Steve, three brothers Harry Jr., William and Jack, and sister Dorothy Quinn.

 

A celebration of live will be held at a later date.
