West Branch, Iowa Albert Earl Wagner Jr., 83, passed away Saturday June 7, 2014 at the Crestview Care and Rehab Center in West Branch. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Downey Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the West Branch Fire and First Responders or the Downey Baptist Church. Albert Earl Wagner Jr. was born August 1, 1930 in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Albert Earl Sr. and Edith Pearl Yerington Wagner. He attended West Branch Schools and was a United States Army Veteran stationed in Germany from 1951 until 1953. On September 14, 1954, Al was united in marriage to Dolores Worrell. Al had retired from Hometown Dairy in Iowa City after working 36 years. He was a member of the West Branch American Legion Chauncey Butler Post #514, coached little league baseball, was a member of the Downey Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Trustee, and was a member of the Teamsters Union. Al enjoyed gardening and working in his yard, and was an avid West Branch Bears and Iowa Hawkeye Fan. Above all, Al treasured the time he spent attending his children’s and grandchildren’s activities. Al is survived by his wife Dolores of West Branch and three children: Debbie (James) Joens of West Branch, Joe (Michelle) Wagner of Solon, John (Deborah) Wagner of Geneseo, Illinois; seven grandchildren: Nicole Koch, Jamie Schuur, Cody and Jacob Joens, and Tanya, Jeff, and Jordan Wagner; and three great grandchildren: Maddyson Koch, Rowdy Rood and Gracie Mae Wagner. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Al was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Nina Dlouhy and Evelyn McGreer and brother Milton Wagner. Al’s family sincerely expresses their appreciation for the loving care he received by the staff at Crestview. They would also like to acknowledge the support received by their Downey Baptist Church family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
