Obituary of Kathryn A. Woody

Kathryn “Kathy” Woody, 75, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at the University Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A memorial visitation will be held 10:00 until 12 noon Saturday, August 14, 2021 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch where a celebration of life will be held immediately following visitation at 12. Kathy was born June 22, 1946 in Indianola, Iowa the daughter of Ervin and Maxine (Murray) Knappen. She attended Iowa City High School. On October 16, 1965 she was united in marriage to Roger L. Woody. For many years Kathy was a stay home mom, after the children were in school she began working; first part-time at Take Two Video and the Family Fun Center, later Blackman Interiors as the manager for 23 years and Hawkeye Carpet and Vinyl in Iowa City retiring in 2020. Kathy loved shopping, especially at Hobby Lobby, she also enjoyed: riding through Walmart in a cart, geneology and her family history, gardening, her cats and most recent calico companion Molly Jo, and most importantly her family.

She is survived by her two children: Bradley James Woody and Janet Leann Woody and her significant other David Childress all of West Branch. Kathy was a mother to many, including McKenzie Croy of West Branch, Dakota Croy of Hills and Jeri Connell of Tipton. 6 grandchildren: James Childress, Madison Connell, Brenna Connell, Makenna Connell and Abigail Croy. Brother: Richard (Marilyn) Knappen of Huntsville, Texas and sister Nancy Sims of Evans, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roger and two brothers: Jack and Jeff.
