Rob was a special person who was liked by so many for all the help he gave of himself so freely. His love of sports will always be remembered.

Rob was a great guy from a wonderful family. Through his legacy he will be remembered as dedicated, loyal, hardworking, loving and kind. Although our paths didn't cross after high school, I've always admired and have been inspired by Rob and Connie's special bond and love for their family. Just as it was with him and sports, he accepted a challenge to overcome and excel with everything in life. Warm thoughts and prayers for Connie and his family.

My sincerest condolences to Rob’s family and anyone grieving their loss. I grew up with Rob and we spent countless hours at the pool, pool halls, playing sports, the Strand Theater, hanging out at the bowling alley and cruising in our cars. He was as good a friend as anyone could hope to have and that smile of his got us out of more jams than I could mention. RIP old friend. See you on the other side!

I just realized that Rob and Connie got married exactly two weeks before Mary and I did in 1974. I first got to know Rob because he was a good friend of my younger brother Jim and came over to our house a lot growing up in West Liberty. Rob was a really nice, amiable guy who I later on played a few rounds of golf with. (and usually beat me.) I remember a Turkey Bowl on one Thanksgiving day, a pickup football game on the Comets field where I was on the same team as Rob. Rob was qb and during an offensive play somehow the ball was fumbled. I scooped it up and started to run and after about one step I got tackled from behind. Turned out it was Rob who tackled me, he said he didn’t realize it was me who had picked it up...it was funny.

Dear Connie and family,
I will always think of Rob as “Robbie”, having known him by that, growing up and playing together as neighbors, just a couple of houses away. My late sister, Cate, was in his class. I’m so sorry for your loss. Rob passed too young, but clearly not before making an impact on the youth of WL and the WL community, and leaving a legacy of family love. I’m betting you were all as proud of him as he was of each of you.

We shared the same birthday, eleven years apart....
Thank you for everything you did not just for me as a friend, but for being an outstanding father figure and coach for all our youth thru the years. You never ever minded when Nate would pop over to work out, no matter the time, and for the talks you two had thru the years. You were such a fighter against this cancer...but, now dear friend it's time to rest in all eternity...God bless you Rob Black!
