Obituary of Joyce "Liz" Tuttle

Joyce Marie Tuttle, known as Liz to friends and family, 87, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at Crestview Specialty Care Center in West Branch where for 13 years she was loved and cared for by the staff.
There will be a private graveside ceremony for the family at the Rock Island National Cemetery and a celebration of life will be announced for friends and loved ones at a later date. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch is in charge of arrangements. Liz was born September 15, 1932 in Iowa City, Iowa the daughter of Pete and Martha Wyjack. She was the first female Bus Driver for West Branch Schools and drove for over 20 years. She also worked at the West Branch Creamery and the Telephone Company in Iowa City. She was united in marriage to Glenn Tuttle Jr. who preceded her in death August 2010. They owned Tuttle and Son’s Tree Service.
Liz drove the family Harley Davidson often with the boys as passengers. She had a keen sense of humor and love of life that was infectious. She was well known in the West Branch Community as a member for over 61 years, much of that time living in the home place on Water Street. She was a strong presence in her grandchildren’s lives and was able to enjoy the arrival of her great grandkids.
She is survived by her sister Doris Schuessler of Lone Tree, four sons: Joe Tuttle (wife Annie) of Topock, AZ, Peter Tuttle (wife Dona) of West Branch, Sam Tuttle (wife Candy) of Aurora, CO, and Ted Tuttle (wife Sandy) of West Branch. She is also survived by her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Tara Goodman and Mattea and McKinley of Arkansas, Kiersten Tuttle and Laikyn, Liesl, Sullivyn, Teddy, and Owyn of West Branch; Kate Tuttle and Hazel and Oliver of St. Louis, MO; Lisa Tuttle and Peter of Madison, WI; Lacey Tuttle of Aurora, Co; Trinity Tuttle of San Diego, CA; Ethan Tuttle and Noah of Aurora, CO; Jill Kinzman and Makyanna, Hannah, Olivia and Sophie of Washington, IA; Calvin Tulle of Iowa City; step grandchildren Amy Wolf and Amber and Emma of West Branch, Chad Bowman and Brittany and Jake and many nieces and nephews. Her parents, brother Wayne Wyjack, Lorraine Bowan and Betty Grout, preceded her in death.
