Atalissa, Iowa JoAnn Baker, 80, died Friday evening March 28, 2014 at the home of her daughter in Atalissa following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Wednesday April 2, 2014 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty Visitation will be Tuesday 4 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Watkins Cemetery, rural Nichols. JoAnn was born June 5, 1933 in Muscatine the daughter of James and Gertrude Cozad. She was united in marriage to Donald Baker; following his death she was later married to Jim Bateman. She enjoyed gambling and had worked for the Isle of Capri, collecting stuffed animals and dolls, getting her hair and nails done, spending time with her family, traveling and dining out. Survivors include five children: Mary Baker of Atalissa, Ronnie (Barbara) Titus of Columbus, Georgia, Harold (Linda) Baker of Columbus, Georgia, Larry (Carol) Baker of Columbus, Georgia and Jack (Sabrina) Baker of Phoenix City, Alabama. 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Sisters: Madeline Black of Muscatine, May Lucas of Muscatine, Deborah Mitchell of Arizona and Alma Shank of Iowa City, sister in law: Charlene Cozad of Muscatine. She was preceded in death by her husband’s Donald Baker and Jim Bateman, sister Gertrude Coleman and brother Jr. Cozad.
