Kenneth Barton, 78, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

A memorial service will be held 2:30 P.M. Sunday, March 3, 2019 at the Lone Tree American Legion. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 until the service time at 2:30 P.M. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty is in charge of arrangements. Inurnment will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery at a later date. Kenneth was born November 22, 1940 the son of Laverne and Anne (DeJong) Barton. He was a graduate of Lone Tree High School in 1950 and served in the United States Navy. On July 23, 1976 he was united in marriage to Linda Johnson in Burlington, Iowa. For 41 years Kenny had worked as a lineman for REC retiring in 2003.

Kenny was a member of the Lone Tree American Legion Post #457, an athlete as a young man and played softball up until he was 50, enjoyed bowling, the outdoors, hunting, golfing and was a member of the NRA.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Linda Barton of Lone Tree, Three children: Don Colton of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Vicki Colton of Lone Tree and Micheal (Michael) Murtagh of Peoria, Illinois, 5 grandchildren: Ashley, Ryan, Rachael, Konor and Klancee. Three sisters: Linda Banken of Lone Tree, Kathy (Doyle) Abrams of Rose Hill, Iowa and Peggy (Bruce) Mason of Minnetonka, Minnesota and a brother in law Bill (Vickie) Johnson of Burlington, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
