Obituary of Maggie L. Heath

West Liberty, Iowa

Margaret Lorraine (Shannon) Heath died Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 7pm of cancer at the age of 28.

A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 27^th, 4-8pm at the West Liberty Community Center, 1204 N. Calhoun St. At Maggie’s request, no formal funeral will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Maggie Heath Memorial Fund which will benefit Sloane Heath. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hendersonbarkerfuneralhome.com. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty is in charge of arrangements.

Maggie was born in Iowa City, Iowa on January 31, 1990 to Jeannette Keller and Frank Shannon. She had one older sister, Kate, and a younger sister, Ava. She attended school in West Liberty, graduating from West Liberty High School in 2008. She attended college at Kirkwood in Cedar Rapids and then AIB in Des Moines.

Maggie married her soulmate, Nick Heath, on July 3^rd, 2015. Those who knew Maggie and Nick as a couple knew that they were an ideal match. Maggie and Nick approached life together with a sense of fun and they lovingly took care of one another in happy as well as hard times. 

Maggie found her true calling when she became a mother to Sloane Katherine Heath on December 15, 2015. Maggie was a natural as a mom and knew right away what Sloane needed. As a mother she was joyful, fun, silly, and incredibly loving. 

If only one word could be used to describe Maggie, it would be fierce.  Yet even that word is not enough.  Because Maggie was fiercely intelligent, fiercely funny, fiercely loving, and fiercely loyal.  Maggie was known for her sharp wit and amazing sense of humor.  Maggie was frank and honest but also deeply kind.  She was fearless in how she lived and loved.  She was a truly devoted mother, wife, sister, friend, and aunt.  Maggie made friends easily and loved the people close to her deeply.  Maggie was generous with everyone she met, from her closest friends to complete strangers.  Maggie was stunningly beautiful, both inside and out.  She enjoyed sharing that gift of beauty in her work as a freelance makeup artist. 

Maggie is survived by: husband Nick, daughter Sloane (3 years old), parents, sisters, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins, and many loving in-laws.
