I was sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I saw him very often at the kc woodworking guild. I recall he was always making KU or KS plaques for his grand kids. He also made a cool wine glass holder. He was always busy doing something. When I had questions on my projects he was always happy to help. I usually brought sweet rolls and muffins to the guild. Jim just loved them and always thanked me for the treats. He was a great guy I am glad, I got to know him for the last several years.

Jim, my friend, I will miss you very much. Your humor often lightened the mood, at Guild meetings, when things got contentious. Bless you and many blessings on your family.

Dear Family of Jim,
I remember him as a genial member of our City High Class. And I seem to remember enthusiasm for Springer (or was it Brittany?) spaniels. Or am I confusing that with his younger brother, John, who was my student in 1965-66 at City High? I especially appreciated Jim's embrace of his Scottish heritage as I share that heritage myself. He made a handsome Scot all kilted out. I send my condolences for your loss. Ann Ellswroth (City High Class of 1960)

Jim was one of my favorite classmates and teammates. We shared the love of Brittany Spaniels. Jim loaned me one of my favorite books - Gun Dog which I cherished and to the consternation of my wife used to train my kids. He was a gentle giant and will be missed.

We first met Jim when we joined Ninnescah Yacht Club...We had joined the club without a slip for our Catalina 22 and so were on a waiting list.. Suddenly, a month or so later the club made the decision to build more slips....I signed up to help and there was Jim.....who is this big guy that is thanking me for agreeing to help build the slips ??.....Keep in mind that my biggest building achievement at that time was putting boards on a tree to climb to the roof of my parents poultry market to rescue the family cat.....So here is Jim...teaching me how to bolt something...first step learn was learning what a bolt is and does..& then how to saw something....heck, how to screw something....the slips are complicated so he had a lot to teach me.......but teach me he did....more than about how to build a slip....but how to gently coax someone (me) by the arm and guide me gently in almost everything I did on the docks....there were probably 50 others that were meeting Jim and learning too that this teacher/ Jim Stuart would provide us with some of the finest times we've had on our sailboat...swinging in the rigging while anchored in a cove..then jumping in the lake....what a time and without Jim's guidance and caring support, I would still be wondering where all the fun was.....Jim was a supreme individual (one of many at Ninnescah) that nurtured young sailors and taught them the ropes..no pun intended.....Thank You Jim Stuart for your caring friendship and for believing in all of us that drilled, hammered, and screwed those slips together......for the first time.....God Bless you Jim !! ....by the way....the slips you taught us to build are still
works of art....Thank you Jim for teaching me much more than how to build a slip... Patrick

Jim had an incredibly positive influence on my life. I moved to Wichita as a 21 yr old to work for P&G, not knowing a single person at work or socially when I arrived. Jim took me under his wing and filled many roles for me from big brother, to business mentor, to friend. Jim’s style of coaching was, “that’s one way to do it”.....which was his very kind way of saying, “Tom, you messed that up”! I was a 9 hr drive from my family, and Jim and Patty welcomed me into their home and their family for holidays, birthdays, and Sunday dinners. I will remember Jim’s kindness and sense of humor, him “taking over Chicago” at my wedding, his work ethic and business skills, his pride for all his children, and his big smile sitting on his boat with bright blue skies and a strong, hot Kansas wind. Jim touched my life in many, many ways and I am forever grateful to have known Him.

Pat,
We are so sad! You and Jim hold such a special place in our hearts. I dearly miss when he would poke his head over the fence to invite me to come have a glass or two or three of wine with you and listen to fun stories. I know he will be missed by so many. He would have been proud to know that Chelsea and her fiancé both joined the Guild! Mike continues to pass along the many things he learned from Jim. We will most definitely be happy to honor his memory with memorial donation to the Guild. Sending you our thoughts, hugs and prayers.
Steph & Mike

While Jim will surely be missed by his family and friends I want to also remember Pat. Often those who sit by the bed and watch the ups and downs their loved one endures also suffer. Pat kept a vigil through the many months never wavering and in spite of being away from her family. My admiration and love to her for the strength and devotion exhibited through the past months.

As Jim's patient advocate at Select Specialty Hospital it was always a pleasure to talk with him and to see the smiles he always gave me. His positive attitude and joyful demeanor was truly an inspiration to me and always made my day. I would like to express my heart filled condolences to the family of Jim. His demeanor reminded me of my dad who passed away 2 1/2 years ago, so I know Jim's loss is felt by many. I wish you all the very best and to know that he is not feeling any more pain as that was a comfort to me after loosing my dad. My prayers go out to you and your family in this time of grief and know that God has a special angel in heaven along side my dad.
