Obituary of Avis Charlotte Cornwall

Iowa City, Iowa

Avis Charlotte Cornwall, 93, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 14, 2017.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the West Liberty Christian Fellowship Church. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hendersonbarkerfuneralhome.com.

Avis was born February 10, 1924, the daughter of R. Krede and Charlotte (Conner) Marshall in Minneapolis, Minnesota where she lived with her family which included her older siblings, Alvin and Florice, until her marriage to George W. Cornwall on March 2, 2946.

Their first home was in Downey, they then moved to a farm a few miles away. 59 years ago they moved their family to Iowa City. For the past 30 years Avis has attended and worshiped her Lord at West Liberty Christian Fellowship.

She is survived by her living legacy, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Daughter Barbara and Roger Thoreson. Their family includes: Kris, his wife Caroline and their children Lars and Elle Ann; Heidi Lindskoog, her husband Nate and their children Dalin, Cora, Toren, Jett, Brooks and Brady; Tim, his wife Tori and their children Kinsley and Colton.

Daughter Deanna and David Meyer. Their family includes: Bridget Meyer and her son, Nathan Petersen; Daniel and his wife  Sandy.

Son Doug and Barbara Marks. Their family includes: Josh, his wife Shasta and their children Matthew and Emily; Angie Cornwall; Aaron, his wife Khursten and their children Clara, Loa and Thea.

Daughter Sandra Cornwall who has, over the past many years, lovingly taken care of her parents.

Avis was preceded in death by her parents, brother, sister and her husband of 66 years George.
