West Liberty, Iowa Venita M. Harned, 91, died Sunday April 7, 2013 at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty. Funeral services for Venita and her husband Virgil will be held together at 10:30 A.M. Monday April 8, 2013 at the First Church United in West Liberty. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to services at the church. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hendersonbarkerfuneralhome.com. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty. Memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice. Venita was born June 10, 1921 in Letts, Iowa the daughter of Ernie and Mary (Kennedy) Vetter. She was a graduate of Nichols High School. On November 22, 1941 she was united in marriage to Virgil Harned in Muscatine, Iowa. Venita and Virgil purchased the Brown Lynch Hardware store in West Liberty and operated for many years as Harned True Value Hardware until their retirement. She was a member of the First Church United in West Liberty. Was a member of the Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary and Ladies of the Moose Lodge in Muscatine. Survivors include her three children: Donna (James) Stagg of West Liberty, Kenneth (Sydney) Harned of West Liberty and Linda (Lyle) Buline of Lone Tree, Iowa. 6 grandchildren: Debra (Marty) Haugh, Andrew (Danielle) Stagg, Curtis (Melissa) Stagg, Brandon (Renee) Harned, Kyle (Laura) Harned and Melinda (Brad) Tripses. 14 great grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by her husband Virgil on April 4th, parents, Sister Gola Buser, two Brothers, Keith Vetter and Virgil Vetter.
