Wilton, Iowa Charles “Chuck” Garner, 67, died Thursday April 4, 2013 at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston, Texas. A memorial service will be held 11 A.M. Saturday April 13, 2013 at the West Liberty Community Center. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service. Charles was born September 3, 1945 in Keithsburg, Illinois the son of John and Nell E. (Ware) Garner. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. On June 30, 1973 he was united in marriage to Carol McNamara in Joy, Illinois. Chuck had worked with Union Local #150 as an operating engineer, operating heavy equipment for over 40 years. He loved spending time at his cabin in New Boston, Illinois where his door was always open to friends and family dropping in for drinks or coffee. He enjoyed fishing, boating, building things, golfing, collecting coins and was said to never know a stranger. He loved his kids and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Carol Garner of Wilton. Two children: William (Kelly Weinbrandt) Garner of Wilton and Kim (Dr. John) Hoffman of Bettendorf, Iowa. 8 grandchildren: Justin, Eric, Matt, Ryan, Lauren and Morgan Hoffman, Chapley and Jalay Garner. Mother Nell Conklin of West Liberty, Brothers: David (Lois) Garner of New Boston and Ronald (Barbara) Garner of Redding, California, Sister Luann (Fred Terwilliger) Shelton of Mt. Ayr, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his father, two sisters Donna Munson and Dianne Reinhart, 2 brothers John Garner and Russell James Garner.
