West Liberty, Iowa Robert Louis Brei, 81, passed away Friday January 18, 2013 at the Crestview Care and Rehab Center in West Branch. No services are planned; a private family burial will take place at a later date. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Robert was born November 2, 1931 in Muscatine, Iowa the son of Louis Adam and Irene (Monk) Brei. He was a graduate of Muscatine High School in the Class of 1950. In June 1951 he was married to Marilyn Edith Hines, they later divorced. Robert was in the United States Air Force, serving from October 1951 to October 1955 where he was stationed in Wichita, Kansas as an aircraft mechanic. After his service in the Air Force, he worked as an automotive repair technician, maintenance man for Standard Oil Co. and an automotive parts person. He is survived by two children: Randy Brei of Huntsville, Alabama and Lou Ann Brei (Denny) Lathrop of Iowa City, 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and a sister: Carolyn Peters of Coralville, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, ex-wife Marilyn and his daughter Kathryn Jean Brei in 2001.
