Elizabeth “Betty” West, 77, died Monday August 3, 2009 at the Crestview Care and Rehab Center in West Branch. Funeral services will be held 1 P.M. Friday August 7, 2009 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. Visitation will be 1 hour before services. Burial will be in the West Branch Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established. Betty was born July 5, 1932 in Carroll, Iowa the daughter of John and Elizabeth Janning Eich. She a graduate of Carroll Kemper High School in Carroll, Iowa. In June of 1957 she was united in marriage to Harry West. She had been employed with the VA Medical Center in Iowa City for several years and later at the East Side Cafe in West Branch. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and the University of Iowa athletics. She is survived by her son: James (Sandy) West of West Branch. Two grandchildren: Patrick West and Ashely Erboe. Four sisters: Eilene Kokenge of Norwalk, CA, Gladys Ebner of Upland, CA, Rita Boyer of Boone, Iowa and Collette Keat of Carroll, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Vera and brothers: Otmer, John, Lee and Adolph.
