FUNERAL SERVICES ARE PENDING West Liberty, Iowa Mary O. Carter, 85, died Friday October 19, 2012 at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty. A memorial service will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday October 26, 2012 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty. Mary was born February 5, 1927 in West Liberty, Iowa the daughter of Dewey and Marcia (Curtis) Patterson. She was a graduate of West Liberty High School in the Class of 1944 and attended Iowa City Mercy Nursing School. On June 22, 1962 she was united in marriage to A. J. “Bud” Carter. She had been employed with Owen’s Brush Co., West Liberty School System in the lunchroom and the Simpson Memorial Home. She enjoyed the outdoors, spending time at their cabin on the Cedar river and fishing. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing reading and the time spent with her family and grandchildren. Survivors include her husband Bud Carter of West Liberty. Four children: Sherry Grable (Wayne Hartwig) of Solon, Iowa Terry (Ramonne) Hudson of Davie, Florida, Robert (Mary) Hudson of Fairfax, Iowa and James Hudson of Iowa City. 4 grandchildren: Heather (Ray) Carrizales, Marcy (Kurt) Weber, Eric Hudson and Sonia Hudson. 6 great grandchildren: Maya, Cole, Ava and Cade Carrizales and Whitney and Kalli Weber. Sister Norma Bryan Pensacola, Florida; brothers: Robert (Janet) Patterson of West Des Moines, Iowa and Richard (Betsy) Patterson of Muscatine. She was preceded in death by her parents.
