West Liberty, Iowa Esther V. Zulaica, 89, died Saturday September 1, 2012 at Mercy Hospice in Iowa City. Funeral mass will be held 10 A.M. Tuesday September 4, 2012 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Liberty. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Church. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hendersonbarkerfuneralhome.com. A memorial fund has been established. Esther was born March 4, 1923 in Zaragoza, Mexico the daughter of Juan and Clara Velasquez Valdez. She was united in marriage to Ygnacio Zulaica in 1938. She had been employed with West Liberty Foods in West Liberty. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Liberty. Her passion was making sure all her family was well cared for. Survivors include three children: Homer Zulaica, Eustolia (Emelio) Partida and Esther (Jose) Renteria all of West Liberty. 9 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ygnacio, 2 daugthers: Tomasita Palacios and Zulema Zulaica; daughter-in-law: Lucille Zulaica; 3sisters: Hermina, Manuela, Eloda and a brother Heriberto. Three Grandsons: Armando Partida, Lee Partida and Ignacio Palacios and one great granddaughter Azariel Rae Zulaica.
