West Branch, Iowa Woody Millett, 95, died Thursday August 30, 2012 at the Crestview Care and Rehab Center in West Branch. Funeral services will be held 10 A.M. Saturday September 1, 2012 at the West Branch United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 7 P.M. At the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. Burial with military honors will be held in the West Branch Cemetery. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hendersonbarkerfuneralhome.com. Memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice or West Branch First Responders. Miles Woodrow Millett was born February 28, 1917 near West Branch, Iowa the son of Miles R. and Bertha Blunt Millett. He was a graduate of Springdale High School in the Class of 1936. In 1939 he moved to Connecticut where he worked for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft. In 1942 he enlisted in the US Army and served until late in 1945. On March 21, 1947 Woody was united in marriage to Bonita Foraker in Marion, Iowa in the church parsonage officiated by Rev. James Gable. He had worked for Sutton TV in Iowa City for many years, following the retirement of Mr. Sutton he along with two co-workers purchased the business. He also owned and operated Woody's TV in Tipton. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and West Branch American Legion where he was past commander. He enjoyed golfing and playing cards; Woody and Bonnie played in many different card clubs and T.T.T. Bridge marathons. Served for several years as a coach for Little League in West Branch and played for the West Branch Merchants in a fast pitch softball league. Survivors include his wife Bonnie of West Branch. Three Children: Sharon “Sherry” Nash of West Branch, Nancy (Lauren) Wear of West Liberty and John (Jan) Millett of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. 6 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Brother in law: Jim (Ida) Foraker of Enfield, Connecticut. Also surviving is a former family foreign exchange student and now college student from South Korea, Misong Jin who always thought of Woody as grandpa. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 5 sisters: Mamie, Lavere, Margaretta, Bessie and Helen.
