Dorothy Mae Ruess Allen Dorothy Ruess Allen 85, formerly of West Liberty and East Moline died June 20, 2012 in Corvallis, Oregon. Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Liberty, with Father Dennis Martin officiating, 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 26, 2012 with visitation 1 hour prior to services. Interment will be held in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, West Liberty. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty is in charge of arrangements. Dorothy was born on May 20, 1927 southwest of West Liberty, Iowa to Albert and Margaret Ruess. She attended West Liberty Schools and later worked in Davenport, Iowa. She married Joseph Allen February 12, 1955 at St. Joseph Church in West Liberty, Iowa. They lived in East Moline where Joseph was employed at Rock Island Arsenal and she was a homemaker. Joseph died in 1987. She continued to live in East Moline where she was a member of Sacred Heart Church. Later she lived in West Liberty, Palm Springs, California and finally in Corvallis, Oregon, to be near her sister, Cecilia. She was an avid Cubs’ fan attending ballgames, whenever possible, with Joe. She was born the youngest of 7 children. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters, Cecilia Cotter and Mary Jane Marron, brothers, Edmund (Millie), Donald (Beryl), Robert (Geraldine) and James (Loretta). She is survived by Geraldine Ruess, of West Liberty and Jack Marron, of Medford, Or as well as many nieces and nephews. Dottie was cherished by all her family with her mischievous smile and card playing tricks, bringing back many sweet memories.
