Atalissa, Iowa Richard “Dick”Ross, 73, died Sunday May 13, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Graveside services will be held 1:00PM on Thursday May 17, 2012 at the Overman Cemetery, rural Atalissa. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Richard was born November 11, 1938 the son of Vernon and Veva Ross. He was a graduate of West Liberty High School in 1957. Following his graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served until 1961. He was married to Donna Taylor Ross for 30 years, she died in October 2011. Survivors include two daughters: Renee (Mike) McDonald of Sand Springs, Oklahoma and Shelly (Ben) Guentzel; step son: Tony Butler of West Liberty. 8 grandchildren: Melissa Lawson, Ryan and Cody Daniels, Calder Ross, Seth and Kailee Guentzel, Donna Hormel and T.J. Butler; 8 great grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Donna. Richard’s family would like to thank the nursing staff on the 4th floor, Mercy Hospital as well as Dr. Feeley and his staff at Cancer Care of Iowa City.
