West Branch, Iowa Roger D. Semotan, 86, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at his home in West Branch. A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, May 5, at Friends Church in West Branch. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until service time at Friends Church, with a luncheon to follow the memorial. Roger was born Sept. 7, 1925, in Cedar Bluff, Iowa, the son of Edward and Leona Sailor Semotan. He served in the United States Navy Air Force during World War II where he was a SBD gunner. Roger was united in marriage to Elaine Reihle on Aug. 28, 1946, in Arkansas. She passed away in 2001. He later married Lois Albaugh on Jan. 30, 2006, in Mayflower, Ark. He owned and operated his own trucking business and was a member of West Branch American Legion Post 541. Roger is survived by his wife, Lois of West Branch; children, David (Rosemary) Semotan of Everton, Mo., Judy Pence of St. Louis, Mo., Nancy (Nick) Russo of Cedar Bluff and Michael (Connie) Semotan of Tipton; stepchildren, Anita (Ed) Starr and David (Kendra Stuart) Albaugh of West Branch; sisters, Mary Ellen Pentland of DeWitt and Carol Meade of Florida; nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elaine Semotan; and his brother, Vern Seaton. Memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice.
