I did not know Paul, but I knew his brothers Mark and Scott, and his father Elmer. I am pretty sure I had a literature course with Mark at the U of Iowa, and I was in Troop 212 with Scott in 1975-76. Elmer was an adult leader in Troop 212 at that time, and he is a very kind and polite man. I remember him well and think very highly of him. My condolences to go out to Paul's family.

My condolences to the entire family. Because I have lived in the east so long, I did not know him well. But the activities described in the obituary show how much he gave to the family, community, and wider world. You have lost a wonderful person too early.

I remember Paul as a man of calm and commitment. Careful of his footprint long before that term entered common use. This memory gives me strength. I remember Paul watching Donna at their wedding reception at Oasis. This memory gives me joy. I remember a thousand slices of summer days, running around with Sarah, Susan, Mark, Paul, Martha, Scott and Jane, in and out of Elmer and Lucille's house. These memories make me laugh. I wish I'd had more chance to know Paul better. I wish everyone had. My love and thoughts and prayers to all assembled today - Ann Bliss.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I struggle to find the words to convey my sympathy. It is frustrating to see such a good person taken away from his work here on earth ... may you tap in to your inner reserve of strength and, eventually, find peace.

I am so sorry for your loss. I taught with Lucille at Lucas for a good number of years way back when. She was so proud of her family. We use to exchange stories about our children. You would be very surprised of what I know about each and eveyone of you. (All good) Since I shared them with Jay he knows too. Times like these are hard but the happy memories will be remembered-I know you have many! Fondly, Nancy Honohan (Jay too)

I am so sorry. I wish there were better words to offer. Paul was a terrific man. I am grateful for his gentle presense as a troop leader for my son's troop 212. My son and Loren were pretty good pals. Your family's friendship meant so much to us when I lost my husband 4 years ago. Everyone in the troop were supportive and kind to us. Now, please allow us to return some of that support to you. If you want to talk, laugh, cry, yell, or just need a cup of coffe, please feel free to call. Colin and I will be glad to be there.
Sincerely
Kitty Carroll

Mrs. Hemingway, and family: My heart goes out to you all during this tragic time. Paul fought so bravely for so long to overcome the many health issues he faced. His strength of spirit and his dedication to the school district impressed me during my time teaching at West Branch. I think anyone who met Paul was impressed with his integrity. You have my sincerest sympathy.
