Iowa City, Iowa Gertrude “Gert” Coleman, 69, died Sunday December 29, 2013 at her home. Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday January 3, 2014 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hendersonbarkerfuneralhome.com. Gertrude was born August 5, 1944 in Muscatine the daughter of James and Gertrude Cozad. She was united in marriage to Arnold Coleman Sr. For 23 years she had been employed at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics working in several departments, most recently the Eye Clinic. She enjoyed traveling, cruises, taking pictures, hot tubbing, her rose garden and flowers, and mostly her children, granchildren and great grandchildren. She was always very aware and enjoyed the world around her. She is survived by two children: Ray (Ellen) Coleman of North Liberty, Iowa and Diana (Everett) Coleman of Atalissa, Iowa. Her loving companion Steve Hemingway of Iowa City. 3 granchildren Mike (Meridith) Coleman, Kyle Coleman and Nicole (Chris) Owens, 5 great grandchildren Emily Coleman, Rylie Coleman, Peyton Owens, Chasen Owens and Aliya Hemingway. Sisters: Madeline Black of Muscatine, May Lucas of Muscatine, JoAnn Baker of Atalissa, Alma Shank of Iowa City and Debbie Mitchell of Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Jr. Cozad.
