West Liberty, Iowa Gloriene Howard, 72, of West Liberty, died Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Mercy Hospice Care in Iowa City. A memorial mass will be held at 10:30AM on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at St. Joseph Church in West Liberty. A wake service will be held at 5:00PM, with visitation 5:30- 7:00PM on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice. Gloriene was born on April 7, 1939 in Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of James and Mamie Downing Milroy. She graduated from Hopkinton High School in 1956. She was united in marriage to James Howard on February 7, 1960 in Muscatine. Gloriene worked for the West Liberty Index and Louis Rich Foods in West Liberty. She was also employed with an advertising firm in Las Cruces, New Mexico and with Poole Transfer in Muscatine and Chicago. Gloriene was known for her cooking. She also enjoyed gardening and reading. She is survived by her husband James of West Liberty, four children, Kelly (Scott) Drake of Coralville, Christopher Howard of Muscatine, Kendra (Tim) Sullivan of St. Paul, Minnesota and Karen Howard of Cedar Rapids, a sister JoAnn (Gary) Bergamo of St. Petersburg, Florida and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
