West Branch, Iowa William J. Lumpa, 79, died Friday December 23, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral service will be held 10:30 A.M. December 28, 2011 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the West Branch Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to West Branch First Responders or a charity of the donors choice. William Joseph Lumpa was born May 25, 1932 in Johnson County, Iowa the son of John and Hilda Niemeyer Lumpa. He attended West Branch schools. On February 13, 1955 he was united in marriage to Janet Mickelson in Iowa City. Bill had been employed with Foster Trucking for 22 years and West Branch Farm Supply where he managed the Oasis Elevator for 14 years. He enjoyed playing cards, working in his yard and sharing time with grandchildren and following them in all their activities. He is survived by his wife Janet of West Branch. Four children: Robert (Debra) Lumpa of Saudi Arabia, Katherine (David) McIlrath of West Branch, Dean (Carol) Lumpa of West Branch and Dale (Kay) Lumpa of Denver, Colorado. Three Brothers: Raymond Lumpa and John Lumpa of Iowa City, Iowa, and Donald Lumpa of West Branch. One sister: Irene (Bob) Steinbrech of Solon, Iowa. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren: Katie, Craig, Brian, Mark, McKenzie, Jesse, Mariah, Matt and Jillian that have all given him many years of pleasure. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister LaVerna Stutzman.
