Iowa City, Iowa Goldie A. Elder, 94, formerly of West Liberty died Thursday December 22, 2011 at Pioneer Park Care Center in Lone Tree. Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Tuesday December 27, 2011 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Visitation will be 4 to 7 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty. Goldie was born July 8, 1917 near Lone Tree, Iowa the daughter of Walter and Caroline Hunzinger Slaughter. She was a graduate of Iowa City High School in the Class of 1935. On November 2, 1944 she was united in marriage to Franklin F. Elder in West Liberty. She was a member the West Liberty United Methodist Church, Moose F.O.E. and Eagles Lodge. She enjoyed Crocheting, playing BINGO, Euchre, family gatherings and dancing. Survivors include 4 children: Carolyn Routh of Olathe, Kansas, Thomas Elder of Iowa City, Roger (Connie) Elder of Marion and David (Anna) Elder of Iowa City. 5 grandchildren: Wendy, Shaun, Jennifer, Nichole and Kristine. 6 great grandchildren: Dustin, Amanda, Isabella, Traevion, Tashanti, and Anna also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband Franklin and 10 siblings. Goldie’s family would like to thank the staff at Pioneer Park and Hospice for the exceptional care they provided.
