West Liberty, Iowa Marilyn Kay Phelps, 61, was called to God’s fold on December 21, 2008 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. She courageously fought congestive heart failure and numerous other health concerns for many years. Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday December 27, 2008 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Overman Cemetery, Atalissa. A memorial fund has been established. Marilyn was born February 3, 1947 in Iowa City the daughter of Lester and Mary Droll Gafeller. On June 28, 1968 she was united in marriage to Stanley Phelps in Wayland, Missouri. Her lifeline was taking care of her grandsons, coffee breaks with her many friends at the local restaurants, and enjoying time with her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband Stanley of West Liberty. Two daughters: Cindy Hawkins of Kingston, Iowa and Kerry Heilskov of Coralville, Iowa. Three step children: Lori Parker and Stanley Phelps of Mt. Grove, Missouri and Jay Phelps of Twin Falls, Idaho. 3 grandsons, 8 step grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Two sisters: Linda Johnson of Muscatine and Jean Berry of Clearwater, Florida. Two Brothers: John Gafeller and Dan Gafeller both of Springdale as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, 3 brother-in-laws and one sister-in-law.
