With great sadness the family of Joan Barnhill will lay her to rest on Tuesday, October 11 at 3:00 pm in Forrest Cemetery, Oskaloosa, IA.
Joan was born August 22, 1946 to Fred E. and Norma J. (Prine) Barnhill. After receiving Nursing degrees from the University of Iowa and Minnesota State University, Joan spent the rest of her life caring for other people, especially children. She always thought of others before herself and was filled with kindness, generosity and compassion. From her maternal grandmother, Joan learned her love of knitting, crocheting and growing African Violets. In prior years she was active in the Order of Eastern Star.
Left to honor Joan’s memory are siblings, Larry (Sue) Barnhill of North Liberty, Bonnie (Brian) James of Oskaloosa and Candy Barnhill of Iowa City; nephews Tyler, Forrest; niece Jaclyn. She was preceded in death by her parents and two infant siblings.
Joan,a devoted hot-air balloon spectator, is now enjoying the glow of the globes from her vantage point in the heavens.
