West Liberty, Iowa Lola D. Ditmars, 97, died Friday September 30, 2011 at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty. Funeral service will be held 11 A.M. Tuesday October 4, 2011 at the First Church United in West Liberty. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to PEO Continuing Education and First Church United. Lola was born October 30, 1913 in LaSalle, Illinois the daughter of Roy and Lillis Peterson McLaughlin. She was a graduate of Webb High School, Webb, Iowa. On November 17, 1934 she was united in marriage to Robert E. Ditmars in Des Moines. She had been employed with the City of West Liberty for 20 years, Millers Department Store, Snider Furniture and Barker Funeral Home. She was a member of First Church United in West Liberty, PEO Sisterhood, Eastern Star and American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by two sons: Robert Ditmars of Muscatine, Iowa and Philip Ditmars of Moorseville, North Carolina. 5 Grandchildren: Kurt, Kari, Mark, Robert and Maeghan. Several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren also survive. Daughter in law: Janet Ditmars of Muscatine and a Sister in law: Barbara Brodsky of Iowa City. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert in 1962, son Maurice in 1980 and a sister Lucille in 1985.
