West Branch, Iowa B. Marguerite Kennedy Brown, 92, died Thursday July 7, 2011 at the Crestview Care and Rehab Center in West Branch. Visitation will be held from 10 until 11:30 on Saturday July 16, 2011 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home, West Branch. A Remembrance Service will immediately follow at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Marguerite’s memory. Marguerite was born September 3, 1918 in West Liberty, the daughter of Joe and Bertha Barnhart Kennedy. She was a graduate of West Liberty High School in the Class of 1936. Marguerite had become a caretaker as a young person following the death of her mother. For most of her life she was a farm wife, starting on a farm in West Liberty then moving to West Branch in 1944. She again became a caretaker later in life, humbling caring for many in her family as well as friends who needed her. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, gardener, cook and baker, and was most noted for her generosity. Survivors include two children: Beverly Brown and Keith (Jolene) Brown of West Branch. Two grandchildren: Callista (Geoff) Isabelle of Hamden, CT and Miranda (Joseph) Mizelle of Fairfield as well as their two children Noah and Aiden. One sister Bevelyn Ranshaw of Coralville also survives. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister: Mildred Fitzgerald and three brothers: Arlie, Gale, and Wayne Kennedy.
