Julio Cesar Galvan, 50, of Columbus Junction, died Monday August 4, 2008, near Keosauqua, Iowa.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00AM on Friday August 8, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Liberty with Rev. Dennis Martin officiating. Visitation will be 4:00-9:00PM on Thursday at the Church with a rosary at 8:00PM. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty is in charge of arrangements. A memorial fund has been established.
Julio was born March 9, 1958 in Baja, Mexicali, Mexico, the son of Rogelio Galvan and Juanita Villarreal de Galvan. He was united in marriage to Rosantina Lopez at West Liberty in 1993. He was employed by L.L. Pelling in North Liberty.
Julio was a leader, fighter, rock, and friend to many. He was a well-rounded and hard working individual, who welded in his spare time. His family was important to him. He was a good brother to his siblings, helping them out when needed. He always gave sound advice to his children and stressed getting an education so that they would not have to work as hard he did. His son Julio Jr. will always remember the many things he learned from his father.
He is survived by his wife: Rosantina, and two sons: Julio Cesar Galvan Jr. and Ivann Galvan, all of Columbus Junction. He is also survived by 10 brothers and sisters: Rogelio Galvan of West Liberty, Rosalinda Villarreal of Wisconsin, Juan Jose Galvan of West Liberty, Maricela Galvan, Arnulfo Galvan and Evelio Galvan all of Texas, Marco Antonio Galvan of West Liberty, Migdelia Partida of West Liberty, Norma Marquez of Denver and Ruben Galvan of West Liberty and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
