West Branch, Iowa Jerome Joseph White, 65, of South Padre Island, Texas, formerly of West Branch, died Tuesday, November 19, 2013 in South Padre Island. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, November 25, 2013 at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church in West Branch. Burial will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established. Jerome was born July 28, 1948 in Independence, Iowa, the son of John and Kaye Mazur White. He attended St. John's Catholic School in Independence. He served in the United States Navy from 1966-1969. Jerome then went on to Iowa State University where he graduated with a B.S. in Agronomy. Jerome was a former member of St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church in West Branch where he sang in the church choir. He was also a member of the Rotary Club. He enjoyed farming, traveling, meeting new people and spending time at the beach and ocean. He is survived by his son: Peter White (Maria White), Fortville, IN; daughter: Megan Forsythe (Jacob Forsythe), Rockton, IL; grandsons: Nico White, Zack White, Will White, Sam Forsythe, Ben Forsythe; brothers: James White (Stanwood, IA), Joseph White (Shell Rock, IA), Jeff White (Independence, IA); sisters: Judy Thiessen (Winthrop, IA), Janet Billerbeck (Cedar Rapids, IA), Jackie Engelbrecht (Mt. Vernon, IA) He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother John White and a sister Patty White.
