Robert M. “Bob” Jensen, 63, died Thursday November 14, 2013 at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota of Myelofibrosis.
Funeral mass will be held 10 A.M. Monday November 18, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Liberty. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4 to 7 pm at the church. Burial will be in the North Prairie Cemetery, West Liberty. A memorial fund has been established. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hendersonbarkerfuneralhome.com.
Bob was born October 31, 1950 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the son of Warren and Marie Myers Jensen. He was a graduate of West Liberty High School in 1969 and attended Muscatine Community College and Kirkwood Community College where he earned his AA in Electronic Engineering. On May 11, 1974 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Taylor at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Parnell.
Bob farmed in the West Liberty area for many years; his legacy of life was centered around farming where he spent every day with his best work partner, his brother Ron. He had been employed with Rohner Machine Works for several years prior to working in the photocopy repair business.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, West Liberty Jaycee’s, Blue Bus Gang and the Wiele Chevrolet morning coffee crew. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. Bob and Betty were active in the Myelofibrosis Support Group. He was most proud of children and grandchildren and being able to attend their activities.
He is survived by his wife Betty of West Liberty. Two daughters: Jackie (Andy) Buysse of West Liberty and Emily (Steve) Wilson of Cedar Rapids and 5 grandchildren Brooklyn, Sophie, Madi, Reese and Cash. Brother Ron (Rhonda) Jensen of West Liberty, Aunt Thelma Aldeman of Iowa City. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents.
