Grace Davis, 84, of West Branch, died Sunday, Nov.10, 2013, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames following a lengthy illness. Services are Thursday, Nov. 14 at 10:00am at the Friends Church in West Branch. Friends may call 4-7pm Wednesday at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. A memorial fund has been established. Grace was born July 1, 1929, near Stockport, IA, the daughter of Carl and Faye Clark Wolf. She graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1947. She attended Parsons College and graduated from the University of Iowa with a master’s degree in Library Science. Grace taught 4th grade in Keota for one year, and later worked as a media specialist for Mark Twain Elementary School in Iowa City. She was united in marriage to Howard Davis on June 17, 1950, in Keosauqua. They farmed southeast of West Branch for many years before retiring in 1984. She was a member of the West Branch Friends Church. After retiring, Grace and Howard spent 20 winters in Sun City, AZ, and were involved with the Southwest Indian School in Peoria, AZ. Survivors include a son, Duane (Lois) Davis of Orange, CA; four daughters, Nancy (Dave) Sundberg of Ames, Janet (Tim) Greiner of Treynor, Carol (Dean) Lumpa of Iowa City, and Betty (Sandy) Fox of Huntersville, NC; 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren, one sister, Janet Ewing of Shawnee, KS, and one brother, Lyle Wolf of Garland, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a brother, Lester Wolf.
