West Liberty, Iowa Beryl Brooke, 95, died suddenly Sunday March 2, 2008 at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Wednesday March 5, 2008 at the First Church United in West Liberty. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 12 P.M. until service time at the church. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty is in charge of arrangements. Beryl was born May 3, 1912 in Springville, Iowa the daughter of George and Mabel Benton McCann. She was a graduate of Springville High School. On May 20, 1931 she was united in marriage to Findley Brooke in Rock Island, Illinois. The couple had managed the Texaco Service Station in West Liberty and later the Best Western Hotel on Interstate 80 at the West Liberty exit. Upon her retirement in 1983 she moved to West Liberty. She was a member of the First Church United, B.J. Chapter of TTT, and Floriculture Society. She enjoyed playing Bridge, flowers and Baking. She is survived by one sister: Beulah Boss of Coggon, Iowa and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Findley, infant daughter Janet Jane, two sisters: Wanda Gardner and Laurene Weedon and two brothers: Robert McCann and John McCann.
