Iowa City, Iowa James Reed Green, 77, died Sunday September 5, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a brief illness. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. Private family services will be held at a later time. Memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice or the Children Miracle Network. Jim was born May 15, 1933 in Washington, Iowa the son of Glen and Lorena Salladay Green. He was a graduate of Washington High School and attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. He had served in the United States Navy where he was a member of the fast pitch softball team. Early in his life he had managed several golf courses and bowling alleys, and later was employed as a salesman for Old Capital Motors, for the last 30 years he had owned and operated First Ave. Wash ‘N Dry. On March 6, 1999 he was united in marriage to Sandy Ellis Haught in Las Vegas. He had a great love for his family. Jim enjoyed playing golf, fishing, playing cards, softball, NASCAR, University of Iowa Football and all his dogs. Survivors include his wife Sandy of Iowa City. Two daughters: Shelly (Joe) Neumann of West Branch and Janet (John) Oehler of Michigan. Two step daughters: Kerri Haught of Iowa City and Kelli Haught of Pasadena, Maryland. 6 grandchildren: Zakery Neumann, Justin, Beau and Seth Pedersen, Ryan and Rachel Oehler. Two sisters: Margaret Monroe of Sigourney and Marilyn Dunwoody of Atlanta, Georgia. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daughter Pam, Granddaughter Britny Neumann, 2 Brothers John and George and three infant siblings.
