James E. Anderson, 84, died Sunday August 29, 2010 at his home following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Thursday September 2, 2010 at the West Branch United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 3 to 7 P.M. at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. A memorial fund has been established. Burial with military honor will be in the West Branch Cemetery.
Jim was born May 16, 1926 in West Liberty the son of Alvin and Elizabeth Ervin Anderson. He was a graduate of West Branch High School in 1943. He had served in the US Navy during WWII. On November 25, 1951 he was united in marriage to Peg Yoder in West Branch.
Jim was a farmer his entire life, he enjoyed his many years raising crops and livestock, retiring after 49 years. Following Jim’s retirement he began making wooden products from the boards of his old barn, he started Barn Board Creations and began selling them at various craft shows and markets.
He was a member of the West Branch United Methodist Church, Chauncy Butler American Legion, West Branch, and Farm Bureau. He enjoyed gatherings with his family, grandchildren and friends, watching baseball (especially the Cubs), playing dominos and traveling south for the winter.
Survivors include his wife Peg of West Liberty. One daughter: Cathy (Kurt) Isabel Johnson of Rochester, Three sons: Tom (Betty) Anderson of Gardena, California, Jerry (Robynn) Anderson of West Liberty, Jimmy Anderson of Indianapolis, Indiana. 4 Grandchildren: Laura, Mike, Dan and Caleb. 5 Great Grandchildren: Robby, Andrew, Ben, Alexis and Hope. Brother: Ken (Evy) Anderson of Red Hook, New York and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and step mother Clara.
