West Branch, Iowa Helen Alice "Sis" Jensen, 93, died Friday evening July 23, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral services for Helen will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday July 27, 2010 at Bethany Lutheran Church in West Branch. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to services at the church. Entombment will be held at Meadowlawn Memorial Garden, Elfers, Florida. A memorial fund has been established through the funeral home. Helen was born August 10, 1916 the daughter of Frank O. and Ella Hobbs Friedrichsen. She was a graduate of Miles, Iowa High School. On February 8, 1939 she was united in marriage to Allen Jensen. Helen and Allen had operated a family grocery store for several years and later owned Snack Harbor Drive Inn in Lyons. During the winters they traveled to Florida and following the sale of Snack Harbor they moved to Florida. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in New Port Richey, Florida where she sang in the choir for 40 years. She was also a member of the Thursday Musical for 40 years. She is survived by 3 nieces: Janet (Paul) Friis of West Branch, Sandra Wiskus (Lawrence) Paulson of Clear Lake and Lynn (Gary) Campbell of Fulton, Illinois. 3 nephews: Denis (Judy) Friedrichsen of Clinton, Iowa, Jon Jensen of Spartenburg, NC and Jay Jensen. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Allen, son Gary Allen Jensen, and two brothers and their wives, Le Roy “Pike” (Wilma) Friedrichsen of Olin and Irwin “Babe” (LaVerle) Friedrichsen of Clinton, two sister-in-laws Wilma Friedrichsen, LeRoy's wife and LaVerle Friedrichsen, Irwin's wife.
