West Branch, Iowa Louis “Bud” Ruzek, 83, died from complications of Parkinson’s Disease, on Friday, May 28, 2010 at Crestview Nursing & Rehab Center in West Branch. Graveside Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at the West Branch Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00PM on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. A memorial fund has been established. Louis was born the son of Frank and Rose Kress Ruzek on June 2, 1926, in Cedar County. He was united in marriage to Vernetta Crew on July 14, 1947 in Cedar Rapids. Louis served with the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He farmed for many years and then later worked for the National Park Service for over 15 years. He is survived by his wife Vernetta of West Branch, son Steve (Mag) Ruzek of Montezuma, Iowa, daughter Brenda (Greg) Piper of Iowa City, son Greg (Katie) Ruzek of West Branch, and daughter Lisa (Scott) Slach of Riverside, Iowa. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Agnes Thompson and Betty Bobzein.
