Brian, Melody, Rhonda, Larry, Bruce and the rest of your family:
I was unaware that Carol had passed on to her reward in heaven until I read the obituary in the paper, the Voice of Muscatine of this past Wednesday. I was sorry to read it. Your mom was such a good lady with her helping people with their income tax preparations for many years and as other people have stated different types of events like the church stand at the fairgrounds each summer's County Fair.
She was a great help to my own mother, Goldie Hayes, with her income taxes and other things of that nature when mom, after Daddy had passed away in 1994, lived at 418 E. 3rd Street. Mom could walk to town, and walked as long as she could while there, or had me or someone else drive her to her hair appointments with their beautician, Joyce Bontrager at Joyce's Cut and Curl on Calhoun St.
She was, I'm sure, a good mom, and a hard worker for the church as well as other things she set her mind to. I liked her as well, and I'm sorry, I didn't put 2+2 together to realize you were all part of one big family. My condolences to you all, and I'm sure she will be happy seeing Fred again, though Tom, I'm not so sure, but she will be happy meeting Jesus and seeing God and all his angels there, too.
Sincerely,
Lisa Hayes Keith

Dear Mel and Family, your obituary is a wonderful tribute to your Mom (Carol) and the full life she led. Cancer does not define her! Your memories of life experiences that she shared with you are what you need to carry close to your hearts. Wish I could be there in person. Hugs from me!

We are so sorry for your loss. Her obituary is a lovely tribute. While we had never met Carol, her smile seems to say it all. Having gotten to know Melody over recent years confirms that Carol had a kind and giving heart. We hope you find comfort in the strength of family, friends and memories. We hope you find peace knowing she lives in you, that she has passed her kind and giving heart on to you, that you may pass on to others, keeping Carol in living memory. Our prayers and thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

My thoughts are with Mel and family. Carol was an amazing woman. I've known her since the age of 5, when I became lifelong friends with her daughter, Mel. She was strong, fierce and feisty! Almost 50 years later, I can remember as clear as day the time she caught Mel and I building a campfire in the cornfield. I have so many fond memories. Godspeed, Carol.
