Marian Bernise Muirhead Taylor, 86, died peacefully in her sleep on February 15, 2017 at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty.
Funeral service will be held 11 A.M. Monday, February 20, 2017 at the First Church United in West Liberty. Visitation will be held Monday, 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Family burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty is in charge of arrangements. Marian was born August 12, 1930 near Tipton, Iowa the daughter of William Cullen Muirhead and Lillian Urutha Ericson Muirhead. She was a graduate of Tipton High School in 1948. She was united in marriage to George William Thordsen on August 20, 1950. Marian and George had two children, Karla and Michael. They had a good life raising their children, but she and George eventually went their separate ways and she married her soul mate, Robert (Bob) Taylor on May 23, 1974, which led to over forty years of happiness and fulfillment.
Throughout her life, Marian worked at the Tipton State Bank, ASCS (Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Services), and the West Liberty State Bank. Marian was a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved playing the piano and organ and spending time with both her immediate and extended family.
She is survived by her children, Karla Thordsen-Hanrahan (Mike Hanrahan) of Wellman, Iowa, Michael (Heather) Thordsen of Lincoln, Arkansas, and bonus children Gene (Debbie) Taylor of Wilton, Jeanette Taylor Suhorepetz of Wilton and Mike (Rhonda) Taylor of Tipton. Also surviving are nieces Ann (Werling) Venditti and husband Rod, Avis (Muirhead) Jones, Kathy (Siemsen) Minde and Kevin (wife Pam) Siemsen along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob in 2014, sisters: June Werling, Lois Warmuth and Norma Siemsen.
Marian led a full life, and will be greatly missed.
