Ula Han, 89, died Saturday, July 11, 2009 at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty. Services will be held at 10:30AM on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at the Henderson Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00PM on Monday, July 13, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery. Ula was born November 9, 1919, the daughter of Fred and Nina Smith Green. She graduated from Nichols High School. She was united in marriage to Ralph Han on October 25, 1942 in Kahoka, Missouri. She was employed with the Johnson County Health Department from which she retired in 1984. She was a member of the Nichols United Methodist Church. Ula enjoyed gardening, cooking and knitting. She knitted hats for many young children who were battling cancer through chemotherapy. Most important to Ula, was dedicating her time and love to her family. She is survived by 3 children: Stephen (Caroline) Han of Mesa, AZ, William J. (Deb) Han of Nichols, and Penny L. (Gary) Harding of Iowa City, a sister: Geraldine Hillyer of Nichols, 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, one sister, one niece, and one nephew.
