West Liberty, Iowa Lois Jeanne Christofferson, 87, formerly of Nichols died Tuesday September 24, 2013 at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty. Graveside service will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday September 27, 2013 at the Nichols Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Memorials may be made to West Liberty Fire and Rescue Unit, Nichols First Responders or Camp Courageous. Lois Jeanne was born October 2, 1925 near Conesville, Iowa the daughter of Ardie and Elva Probst Edgar. She attended country school and graduated from Conesville High School in 1943 where she lettered in basketball. On June 21, 1946 she was united in marriage to Edward Christofferson in Muscatine. They lived in rural Nichols all their life. She enjoyed bowling and watching men’s and women’s Hawkeye Basketball. She was an excellent cook and prepared meals for many family gatherings. Survivors include one son Dan (Jeannette) Christofferson. Three grandchildren: Sandra Christofferson, John (Kori) Christofferson and Josh (Melinda) Christofferson. 12 Great grandchildren: Cale, Troy, Ava, Josie, Jacob, Patrick, Levi, Caleb, Zach, Memphis, Cooper and Elle. Two Great great grandchildren: Chance and James Daniel due in October. She is also survived by two sisters: Gwen Shoemaker and Billie (Bob) Osborne, one sister in law Marty Edgar. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband Edward in 1978, sisters Eloise and Shirley and a brother John.
