Dorothy Mae Frauenholtz, 81, West Branch, died Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Crestview Nursing and Rehab Center in West Branch.
Services will be held at 10:30AM on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in West Branch. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00PM on Monday at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch. Burial will be in the West Branch Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
Dorothy was born May 18, 1928 in Eudora, Kansas, the daughter of William and Lena Richtermeier Koehler. After graduating from high school in Lawrence she joined her sister Emma Rogers in Iowa City and on November 27, 1948 she married Raymond G. Frauenholtz at Zion Lutheran Church. They made their home in West Branch in 1954.
She enjoyed gardening and providing child care for many kids in the community as well as her own kids and grandchildren. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her eight children; Wayne Frauenholtz and his wife Jane of West Branch, Elaine Brown and her husband Roger of Solon, Allen Frauenholtz and his wife Danette of Iowa City, Ed Frauenholtz of West Branch, Dean Frauenholtz and his wife Jean of West Branch; Rita Jamison and her husband Larry of Iowa City, Judy Frauenholtz and her husband Gary Appleby of West Branch, Jean Smith and her husband Craig of Mount Vernon; eighteen grandchildren, Anne, John, Wyatt, Niki, Nathan, Neely, Emily, Michael, Lisa, Tara, Chris, Jen, Jodi, Beth, Jessica, Gina, Adrienne and Collin; seventeen great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Katie, McKenna, Camden, Jesse, Ashley, Tristan, Austin, James, Michael , Miranda, Haley, Makayla, Vikram,Emmet, Jeremiah and Holly; two sisters Pearl Taylor of Sunnyside, Washington and Martha Ralston of Overland Park, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, infant son Dennis, her brothers William, John and Ralph, and her sisters Emma and Freda.
