West Branch, Iowa David E. Arnold, 66, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at his home in West Branch. A time of sharing and celebrating David's life will be held Saturday, May 21, 2016, 1:00 to 4:00 P.M. at Shakespeare's in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Iowa City Animal Shelter or the American Heart Association. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hendersonbarkerfuneralhome.com. David Earl Arnold was born August 9, 1949 in Omaha, NE, the son of Harold and Mildred (McCrory) Arnold. He was a 1967 graduate of Atlantic High School, attended the University of Iowa and later graduated from the Brown Institute of Electronics in Minneapolis, Minn. He was united in marriage to Deborah (Parker) McMann in 1971. Following their separation, he was married to Susan McClellan on December 21, 1989 in Iowa City. Dave worked as a radio disc jockey in the 1960s and 1970s, where he was pleased to meet notable musical artists like Paul Simon, Art Garfunkel, Peter, Paul & Mary and others. He worked locally for West Music and Audio Odyssey in Iowa City before spending a number of years as a successful salesman, retiring from Maui Jim Sunglasses in 2012. He enjoyed music, cooking, traveling, the Green Bay Packers, Guinea Pigs, reading, and old sports cars. He despised the designated hitter. He is survived by his wife Susan of West Branch. Two sons: Nick (Shannon) Arnold of North Liberty and Dan (Nina) Arnold of Austin, Texas, three grandchildren Everleigh, Hudson and Quinn, and sister Linda Marek of Anita, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents.
